Welcome to Svalbard for the 51st Eurovision Sports!

On March 22–28 2025, Sweden will host Eurovision Sports in Longyearbyen on Svalbard.

78th Parallel North

Imagine waking in a world that’s straight out of a mythical fairy tale. As you step outside, the biting Arctic air greets you, and you’re surrounded by a landscape that’s as unforgiving as it is breathtaking. The tundra stretches out before you, a vast expanse of rolling hills that seem to stretch on forever. In the distance, the rugged peaks of bare mountains rise up, their snow-capped summits glistening in the pale light of the Arctic sun. And yet, despite the harsh conditions, the very air is alive with the thrill of adventure, as if the land itself is beckoning you to explore its secrets.

This, dear traveler, is the Polar bug – a term that’s coined to describe the irresistible allure of the Arctic wilderness. It’s a bug that bites you hard, leaving you with an insatiable desire to return to this unforgiving, yet strangely beautiful, landscape. Are you ready to let the Polar bug take hold, and embark on an adventure that will leave you breathless and beguiled by the raw power of the Arctic?

Nedover

In March 2024, the World’s most northern alpine slope opened in Longyearbyen when Nedover started the ski lift and the first skiers made their first turns at this remote corner of our world. On this slope we will carry out 3 alpine competitions. Giant Slalom, Super Giant+ and Team Parallel. The slope is within walking distance from the hotels and central in the village, making it easily accessible for participants and spectators alike. The opening of this new slope marks a significant milestone in the development of skiing in Longyearbyen, and we are thrilled to offer this unique experience to skiers from all over the world. The slope’s unique location, surrounded by breathtaking Arctic landscapes, is sure to provide a one-of-a-kind skiing experience.

Adventdalen

As we venture into the breathtaking landscape of Adventdalen, the vast expanses of untouched wilderness will provide the perfect setting for our cross-country competitions and relays. The rolling hills, carved by the river Adventdalselva, will challenge our endurance and agility as we weave through the lush valley. The stunning view to the mountains and across the fjord will inspire us, as we test our stamina and camaraderie in a series of thrilling competitions and relays. As we run through this unspoiled paradise, we’ll not only be challenging ourselves physically, but also immersing ourselves in the rugged beauty of the Arctic wilderness.

Adventure Ahead

Tuesday is free of competition so that everyone has the opportunity for a self-chosen activity and there is a large selection to choose from. On this day, you can focus on your personal goals and interests without the pressure of competing with others. Whether you want to go on an adventure, practice a skill, or simply relax and enjoy some downtime, Tuesday is the perfect day to do so. And with a wide range of activities to choose from, you’re sure to find something that suits your taste.

On Wednesday, we will go on a full-day snowmobile safari to Tempelfjorden. This exciting adventure will take us through the beautiful winter landscapes of Svalbard, offering breathtaking views and thrilling experiences. We’ll ride through the snow-covered mountains and stop at scenic viewpoints to take in the stunning vistas. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself, try new things, and create unforgettable memories with your fellow travelers.
